Maija Rejman and Barry Moton

Maija Rejman and Barry Moton will be performing on Friday, February 18, at 7:30 PM on the MAJF Club Stage.
Since the age of 9, Maija has been on jazz stations throughout the US and Japan and has been acclaimed by critics in such publications as Jazz Times, City Paper, Cadence, and the Washington Post.  A veteran jazz vocalist and songwriter, Maija has performed with many jazz greats including Bobby Timmons, Keter Betts, Ron Elliston, Charlie Byrd, Buck Hill, Bob Butta, Robert Redd, Chuck Redd, Tommy Cecil, James King, Wade Beach, David Kane, Drew Gress, Tony Martucci, Mike Crotty, Nanny Assis, Leny Andrade, and Claudio Roditi to name a few. Maija’s return to the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival will leave behind yet another outstanding performance.

Barry Moton is a Peoria, Illinois native who earned his BA in Vocal Jazz Performance from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, studying with Reggie Thomas. He then furthered his education via the real HU experience and earned his Master’s Degree in Vocal Jazz Performance from the lustrous Howard University while studying with the great Connaitre Miller. A true renaissance man, Moton wrote the critically acclaimed radio drama ‘Day Dream’ inspired by the life of jazz icon Billy Strayhorn which has been performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Moton’s credits also include performances at the Mid Atlantic & the Al Sears festivals, as well as sharing stages with legendary artists like Cyrus Chestnut, Vanessa Rubin, and the late Roy Hargrove. Barry Moton is a musical mood that listeners will keep on repeat.
