Featuring: "Night Bird Song" - Thomas Chapin Movie

This acclaimed, award-winning music documentary reveals Thomas Chapin in depth, placing him in jazz history and assuring he won’t be forgotten. Destined to be among the great virtuosos of jazz, Chapin, an alto sax and flute master, was nearing the pinnacle of his meteoric rise when leukemia took him at the age of 40 in 1998. He left his mark on jazz n the '80s and '90s, pushing the music and bending genres. Just as he transcended the boundaries of jazz and sound, Chapin would prove that life itself is to be transcended even if it had to end too soon.

Featuring: "I Called Him Morgan" - Lee Morgan Documentary

Helen Morgan had nursed her common-law husband, jazz great Lee Morgan, through heroin addiction. On a February night in 1972, she walked into Slug's Saloon in the East Village with a gun in her purse, and after they fought and he physically threw her out of the bar, she returned and shot him. Then, Helen relinquished the gun and waited for the police to come for her. Many years later, she was interviewed about her life with the brilliant and unpredictable musician.
